With beautiful little beaches overlooking the loch and surrounding hills its the starting point for two fabulous walks.
Ben Lomond
Ben Lomond is Scotland's most southerly munro (a mountain in Scotland with a height over 3,000 feet) and is one of its most popular to climb with its proximity to Glasgow.
With a well trodden path to the top its a beautiful mountain to climb with incredible views from a third of the way up. Depending on your fitness it can take anywhere from 3 - 6 hours to climb up and down.
West Highland Way
Walk part of the famous West Highland Way from Rowardennan to Inversnaid, 7.5 miles of undulating rocky path along the shores of Loch Lomond.
At the rear of the Rowardennan Youth Hostel you take a left turn along the road path until you join the path that takes you down to the lochside.
The next 7 miles will take you through magical ancient oak forests, across stunning sandy beaches with incredible views across the loch to the Arrochar Alps.
Look out for wild mountain goats, deer and if you're lucky osprey and sea eagles
